Wound Dressing

Definition

Wound dressing is the practice of applying paint or sealant to fresh pruning cuts. Modern arboriculture research has shown that wound dressings are unnecessary on most species and can actually slow healing — with the notable exception of oak species during oak wilt season, where pruning sealant is strongly recommended on every fresh oak cut.
