Sucker Growth

Definition

Sucker growth refers to vigorous shoots that emerge from the root system or base of a tree, often in response to stress, injury, or root damage. Suckers are typically removed because they compete with the main tree for resources.

In Central Texas

Tree Scouts arborists evaluate sucker growth on Central Texas trees and recommend either removal or selective retention based on the underlying cause.
