Oak Pruning Ban

Definition

The oak pruning ban is a seasonal restriction (typically February 1 through June 30) on pruning oak trees in oak-wilt-affected regions. The ban exists because sap-feeding beetles that spread the oak wilt fungus are most active during these months and are attracted to fresh oak wounds.

In Central Texas

The oak pruning ban window is February 1 through June 30 across most Central Texas municipalities, and Tree Scouts adheres to it on all oak work.
