Monterrey Oak

Definition

The Monterrey oak (Quercus polymorpha) is a semi-evergreen oak native to northern Mexico and adapted to Central Texas conditions. It is highly resistant to oak wilt and tolerates heat, drought, and alkaline soils well.

In Central Texas

Monterrey oaks (also called Mexican white oaks) are highly oak wilt resistant and Tree Scouts often recommends them as live oak replacements in Central Texas.
