Crown Thinning

Definition

Crown thinning is the selective removal of small live branches throughout the canopy to reduce density, improve light penetration, and reduce wind resistance — without changing the overall size or shape of the tree.

In Central Texas

Crown thinning is a common request on dense live oaks across Georgetown and Round Rock neighborhoods after wet spring growth.
